Pro: convert, curve, codes and shortcuts

The gear icon opens Quick settings; All settings opens the full settings page, with presets, search and a live preview of exactly what will be typed. You can try any Pro setting there on the Free plan; it applies to fills once Pro is active.

If the grabbed page doesn’t show totals (just “17”), enter the source total in Settings so scaling knows what 17 is out of. The quick Values and Round menus on the review screen change the same settings.

Missing, Excused and letter grades

Under Missing, excused & other marks, choose Type… and enter what your gradebook expects, for example 0 or M for Missing, EX for Excused, or 100 for a completion ✓. A number you type here is converted like any other score.

Under Letter grades, tick the box and set your cut-offs (A from 90, B from 80…). Gradeshuttle then types letters instead of numbers. Percentages are worked out from the total.

Grab more: merge several grabs

Use Grab more when one gradebook column needs grades from several places: two sections of the same course, version A and B of a quiz, or a long list grabbed one screen at a time. Each grab adds students to the tray. If a student appears twice, the latest non-blank grade wins. The review shows which grab each value came from.

Remembered matches

When you fix a match by hand, tick Remember this match next time. Gradeshuttle stores a scrambled code for that pairing on your computer, not the names, and applies it automatically on that gradebook. Remembered matches expire at the end of the school year (July 31). You can delete them in Settings › Name matching. On School and District licenses this is off unless IT turns it on.

Clean-up rules

If a system adds text that gets in the way, remove it with a pattern, one per line. Examples: \(Period \d\) removes “(Period 3)” from names, and pts$ removes a trailing “pts” from values. Patterns are regular expressions and aren’t case-sensitive.

Share settings with your department

In Settings › Share & backup, Copy my settings code gives you a short code starting with GSC1.. Colleagues paste it under Use a colleague’s code to get the same conversions, codes and letter scale. Codes contain settings only, never license keys, names or grades. You can also export and import a settings file.

Your license key

Paste the key from your purchase email into Settings › License and press Activate. It’s checked on your computer and contains only your plan and expiry date. If your school or district has a license, IT installs it for you and you’ll see “District license from your school or district”.
