Troubleshooting

Most problems have a one-minute fix. If yours doesn’t, write to us with the page names and what you saw. No student names, please.

Nothing highlights when I point at grades

  • Reload the page and press Grab again. Pages that were open before Gradeshuttle was installed sometimes need a reload.
  • Check that Gradeshuttle has site access: open it, and if you see “Allow Gradeshuttle on school websites”, press it.
  • Google Sheets and Excel for the web can’t be clicked into. Use Paste.

It picked the wrong column, or found no names

  • Point directly at a score, not at the gap between cells. The green highlight shows what will be read before you click.
  • Gradeshuttle needs a student name on the same row as the score, or in a frozen name column beside it. If names are hidden, turn them back on in your app’s view settings.
  • On the review screen, Pick another column lets you choose again.

Lots of rows say “no match”

  • Make sure the source and the gradebook are the same class or section.
  • If one system shows extra text in names (such as “(Period 3)” or emails), Pro clean-up rules can remove it.
  • Try Settings › Name matching › Loose, and check the review carefully.
  • Click a row to match it by hand. Pro can remember that match.

Values appear, then disappear or don’t save

  • Press your gradebook’s Save button. Gradeshuttle never saves for you.
  • Some gradebooks check values on save. A value outside the assignment’s total, or a code the gradebook doesn’t accept, may be rejected. Match the totals, or set a Pro conversion.
  • Cells outlined red couldn’t be confirmed after typing. Type those by hand and let us know which gradebook it was.

“The gradebook page changed or was closed”

The gradebook reloaded or you moved to another page between picking the column and filling. Press Pick another column and click the column again. Your grabbed data is still there.

Only some students were grabbed or filled

Some long lists only draw the rows you can see. Zoom out (Ctrl/⌘ + −) so the whole class fits, or work a screen at a time. In the source, use Grab more (Pro). In the gradebook, press Fill again after scrolling; cells already filled show as “unchanged”.

“Chrome doesn’t let extensions work on this kind of page”

Chrome’s own pages (settings, new tab, the Web Store) and some built-in viewers can’t be read by any extension. Open your class or gradebook in a normal tab.

“Your school hasn’t allowed Gradeshuttle on this site” or settings are locked

Your IT team manages Gradeshuttle and has limited it to certain sites or fixed some settings. Ask them to add the site. The IT controls are documented for them.
